We're
College Bound
We're College Bound is a mentoring program
for 5th grade at-risk students. The program
is a combination of tutoring and career
exploration and has been at San Juan
College for seven years.
Students explore careers such as cosmetology,
theater, auto body, and nursing, by visiting
places of work and examining what it
takes to get there. Education paths,
required skill sets, pay scales, and
the pros and cons of various careers
are investigated.
The program includes 4 annual events:
- Retreat
- Parent Potluck
- Service Project
- Graduation
Students are paired with college-level
psychology students and meet every Thursday
at 4:00 p.m. at Mesa Verde Elementary
School for one semester.
