Volunteer
Center
The
Volunteer Center was created in 1992
with a startup grant from the Points
of Light Foundation. The Volunteer
Center reflects the college's commitment
to addressing community needs through
service leadership.
We
work closely with over 100 government
and non-profit service providers and
serve as a link for community members,
faculty and students, and local business
to come together to solve issues and
become leaders in doing so.
We
serve as a clearinghouse to match community
service organizations with students
and community members who wish to volunteer.
The Center maintains a Volunteer Directory
of community service organizations
who use volunteers. The directory can
be accessed at the Center by students
and community members to choose agencies
where they can volunteer.
The
Volunteer Center fosters the spirit
of volunteerism throughout San Juan
County by
- providing
a referral service for volunteer
opportunities,
- organizing
volunteer and non-profit management
workshops, and
- hosting
national service day events.
