Contract Training

Early Childhood Contract Training designs and delivers training to meet specific needs of Four Corners agencies that work with children and families. It Child Development Associate mentoring and advising in partnership with Business and Industry Training. Contract Training offers the State Family, Infant, Toddler Specialization through Early Childhood Education (ECE) Deparment, and delivers ECE coursework on alternative schedules. We also provide parenting classes for the community.

1. Who can benefit from our training?(top)
The Family Resource Center offers training to nurses, early child hood education professionals, day care providers, parents and anyone else who works with young children.

2. What topics do you cover?(top)
The majority of training offered is related to infant and/or maternal mental health, special needs, family support and child development. Workshops presented in the past have included:

  • Family Centered Practice - to enhance community service workers' ways to work with children and their families in a family centered approach.
  • Family Centered Assessment - philosophy, principles and general imple' of a nationally recognized assessment process that focuses on family strengths Early Intervention - Service Coordination and Advocacy Behavioral Issues
  • Learning Differences
  • ADHD - What is it and how can I help? Temperaments - a framework for understanding the un of each child.
  • Health Community/Health Communication - focus on effective communication within programs that work with families and children.
  • When Children Soar with the Wind: The Inclusive Child Care Curriculum - offered as 12 four-hour modules. Reflective Supervision - discussion, education and activities on reflective supervision as a respectful collaborative approach with staff.
  • Skill Development for Human Service Professionals Keys to Caregiving - a national training program to enhance ability to understand and respond to infants' behaviors.
  • How to Teach a Toddler
  • Beginning Rhythms: The Emerging Process of Self Regulation in Infants.
  • Learning Adaptations for Young Children with Special Needs
  • Infant and Toddler Development and Well Being
  • ASO: Ages and Stages Questionnaires Parenting
  • Raising America's Children
  • Integrating Culture in the Early Childhood Classroom
  • Family, Infants and Toddlers (FIT) Specialization

3. Can I receive credit for training?(top)
FRC Contract Training offers courses from orientation-level work shops through classes that earn college credit. We also provide training that qualifies for continuing education units (CEU) social work, and guidance and counseling.

4. How much does training cost? (top)
Cost of training is determined by factors such as the length of the workshop. Seminar or course, the number of participants, and the type of course material used.

Typical costs have been $30 for a half-day seminar and $75 for a full day. Tuition for classes offered for credit is $25 per credit hour, plus a one-time admission fee of $10 for those who have not previously attended a San Juan College course.
Contract Training will also custom design training to fit the needs of a particular group. Training can be provided on-site as well as on the San Juan College campus or at the Family Resource Center located at 3539 E 30th Street in Farmington.
