Things You Need To Know Before Taking This Class

4FIRST, If possible, please make necessary arrangements to attend the orientation meeting. This will be scheduled at the beginning of the semester.

4SECOND, This is a schedule-based course (not self-paced) that requires frequent and rigorous computer applications assignments (it is “more difficult” compared to a traditional “face-to-face” COSC 125: Business Microcomputer Applications class). You will have to be dedicated in order to complete the course.

4THIRD, Computer-savvy students who are familiar with keyboards and can type at least 20 words per minute do best in this class. If you are a typist who “pecks” her/his way through assignments, please drop the class and enroll in AOAP 123 keyboarding class.

4FOURTH, Consider carefully whether or not you are suited for online learning—most students are not. You must be self-motivated, extremely hard working, and an independent learner.

4FIFTH, Students need to realize there is a tradeoff to distance learning. Students gain flexibility to take a class at her/his convenience that might otherwise prove difficult or impossible to attend in the traditional face-to-face class setting. Though, students will have more of a challenge compared to traditional student with keeping up with the course content and being prepared.

4SIXTH, After the semester begins, I will send frequent e-mail messages to students using Angel e-mail. You will need to check your Angel e-mail every day! Please stay in touch with me.

After enrolling in this course:

Contact your instructor on or before January 14 to let her know you are ready to start class. Please send an e-mail message to your instructor with the following information:

4Your name

4Complete mailing address
