Search
Engines and General Web Directories
Below
are links to a select list of search engines that can be used
to conduct a more specific search on the Internet. Some
Indian Tribes now have their own domain name (the last few letters
of an Internet address), .nsn.us, which stands for Native Sovereign
Nation. Not all tribes, however, use this designation. In general,
sites that end in .nsn.us, .edu, and .gov tend to be more reliable
than .com sites.
Please note that many
search engines do not pick up accents or diacritical marks, such
as in Diné. A search on Dine, without the accent will produce
a large number of irrelevant results.

to search the Internet, click here.
Alta
Vista
http://www.altavista.com/
This site has many advanced search features to combine terms and
get specific results.
DMOZ
Open Directory
http://dmoz.org/
The Open Directory Project is the largest, most comprehensive
human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained
by a community of volunteer editors.
Google
http://www.google.com/
A good search engine to find organizations, associations, and
government sites quickly. Provides good results in terms of accurate
and reliable sites. The site does not have many graphics, so it
loads quickly.
Yahoo
http://www.yahoo.com/
Organizes Web-content into categories, such as business and economy,
government, health, etc.
