Totally Not a Conspiracy… Right?

We all have a tendency to see patterns where none exist, jump to conclusions with limited information, and build complex explanations for simple things. It’s human—and it’s powerful.

Join San Juan College librarian Jennifer Goodland for an interactive community conversation on real conspiracy theories, how paranoia can take shape, and why misinformation is so convincing. Together, we’ll explore how unrelated facts, mixed with a few logical fallacies, can quickly turn into a believable (but totally made-up) conspiracy.

Jennifer Goodland is the Technical Services Librarian at San Juan College. She previously taught critical thinking at Metropolitan State University of Denver and helped design Colorado’s community college curriculum on constructing and analyzing propaganda. Her background also includes work with the United Nations and the G8 Summit, and she is a graduate of the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs.
