The Global Studies Committee is dedicated to enriching intercultural awareness by bringing diverse experiences from around the world to San Juan College and taking San Juan College students and faculty off campus to experience the world for themselves.
Travel Study gives students the opportunity to earn academic credit while participating in short-term study abroad or domestic programs off-campus. Students travel with SJC faculty to study topics such as biodiversity in Costa Rica, the Italian Renaissance math and art in Italy, Japanese culture in Japan, political science in Washington, D.C., and much more! Why just read about something in a book? Experience it for yourself by using the world as the classroom!
The Global Studies Committee works with other offices on campus to promote events throughout the year that focus on international cultures and topics. Come to a movie night, international fair, or musical performance and learn a little bit more about the world!
San Juan College has relationships with colleges and universities across New Mexico to expand international opportunities for students and faculty.
The Global Studies Committee is working to designate certain courses offered at SJC as “Global” courses because of their focus on international content.
Several San Juan College faculty are returned Peace Corps volunteers. The Global Studies Committee sponsors events that give students and community members the opportunity to learn more about the Peace Corps and how they can apply.
