CARES Act
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Emergency Relief Grant Fund provides one-time, emergency financial aid assistance to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. The CARES Act was signed into law March 27, 2020. These Awards were distributed to San Juan College students based on need as determined, in part, by Title IV eligibility with a focus on providing additional supports to students showing financial need.
San Juan College Financial Aid office calculated student awards and distributed these funds May 2020-March 2021. Those students who were eligible were notified via a letter through the U.S. Postal Service, as well as their San Juan College student email address.
San Juan College has received supplemental grant funds pursuant to Section 314(a)(1) of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Pub. L 116-260 as well as the grant funds herein pursuant to section 2003 of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) (Pub. L. 117-2) are governed by section 2003 of the ARP and section 314 of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) (Pub. L. 116-260).
San Juan College Financial Aid office calculated student awards and began distribution of these funds beginning March 31, 2021. Those students who were eligible were notified via a letter through the U.S. Postal Service, as well as their San Juan College student email address.
