Instructor of Mathematics
B.S. Applied Mathematics, University of New Mexico 1987
M.A. Mathematics, University of Miami 1991

Abrahamson, is a native of New Mexico. He grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Sandia High School and the University of New Mexico. He majored in Mathematics after discovering his love for explaining the subject to others. His most interesting job in college was preparing the cadavers for the anatomy labs.

After graduating from UNM, he got married and moved to Miami, Florida to teach math and physics at a small private high school. While at the school, he also coached cross-country, basketball, and baseball. After two years, he let his wife take his job (and his raise) so that he could get his Master’s degree at the University of Miami.

Before he arrived at San Juan College, in 2002, he taught at Santa Fe Community College for eleven years. At SFCC, he led the physics department and taught conceptual, algebra based, and calculus based physics courses as well as their labs. In math, he taught classes ranging from pre-algebra to differential equations.

Outside of work, his life is centered around his faith and his family. He is an active member and supporter of the many programs at Pinon Hills Community Church. His favorite activities are spending time with his wife and two kids, biking, fishing, canoeing, and eating cookies.
