Substitute teachers are in great demand around the county. Learn how to be an effective substitute teacher in this course.

Among the topics to be covered are state law & licensure requirements, classroom management, instructional skills, school safety, special education and cultural awareness. Students will do actual classroom observations during the fall semester.

Materials presented are applicable to all school systems in San Juan County. Enrollment in this course is strongly recommended prior to substitute teaching in local systems. After meeting course requirements (including required attendance at all class sessions), each student will receive a certificate of completion.

The required text ($10) will be available at San Juan College bookstore. Tuition for this one credit hour class is $30 ($40 nonresident).
