If you do not enroll in health insurance within 31 days of your initial eligibility period, you may enroll at any time during the year as a "late enrollee". Coverage begins 90 days from the date the application is signed, on the first day or sixteenth day following the 90-day waiting period. The late enrollment provision applies to health insurance only.
Under the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), you will not be subject to medical underwriting; however, you will be subject to a 12-month pre-existing conditions clause on the Self-Coordinated level on the Triple Option and Dual Option plans. There is no pre-existing condition limitation under the EPO (HMO) type plan.
