Philosophy

The philosophy of financial aid is to supplement, not replace, what the family can contribute toward educational expenses (such as tuition, books, supplies, and transportation). Students have an obligation to be responsible for contributing a reasonable portion for their educational expenses. However, a lack of funds should not keep a student from obtaining a post-secondary education. The Financial Aid Office at San Juan College offers grants, loans, scholarships and student employment for students who demonstrate need or scholastic ability.

Our mission is to provide financial assistance to students who would otherwise not be able to attend San Juan College. We stress the importance of early financial planning and timely communication since the financial aid process can be very complicated and often time consuming. We hope that this website, www.sanjuancollege.edu/financialaid will be helpful in guiding all applicants through the process. In some cases, financial aid will not be available until later in the semester so we advise that you save as much money as possible for some expenses up front.
