Engineering

The Associate of Science degree in Engineering from San Juan College has recently been reformed and upgraded for your benefit! We, along with the New Mexico Commission on Higher Education, have articulated our program with all New Mexico Universities. That means you can transfer with junior-level status no questions asked.

Each engineering course at San Juan College has been monitored by New Mexico State University for both content and structure. The engineering program at NMSU is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET), and the faculty and staff at NMSU applied the same rigorous standards when reviewing San Juan College's reputation.

Engineering classes are always small; generally 8-12 students. Even physics classes are limited to enrollments of 25 or less. Compare this to freshman lecture sizes of 100-300 in most large universities. Personal attention from instructors is practically guaranteed at San Juan College. Furthermore, San Juan College has one of the lowest tuition costs in the country.

An Associate of Science Degree in Engineering will prepare you for transfer to most disciplines. The first four semesters of classes are similar throughout engineering fields. Typically, students transfer to programs in the following areas:

Mechanical
Electrical
Civil
Chemical
Environmental
Aerospace

Engineering is a socially valuable and highly diverse profession. There are many career choices available to graduates, and such a rigorous degree commands respect from employers. Check it out!
