Physics

Welcome to the physics department

Physics (AS.PHYS) 65-76 credit hours

The dictionary definition of physics is “the study of matter, energy, and the interaction between them”, but what that really means is that physics is about asking fundamental questions and trying to answer them by observing and experimenting. Physics is the basis for a lot of other sciences, including chemistry, astronomy, oceanography, and seismology, and it can be applied to biology and medical science.

At San Juan College, we offer an Associates of Science (AS) degree with a Physics concentration. Upon graduation, you're prepared to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue your Bachelors of Science (BS) in a wide variety of disciplines such as astrophysics, energy exploration, engineering, teaching, or science journalism.

You'll also learn how to think logically and methodically - essential skills for any career.
