Academic Advisement & Planning

EDGE participants have their own personal Academic Advisor available to them to help with pre-registration advisement, drop-in counseling and assistance in developing course schedules based on individual interests and talents that satisfy the students selected degree plan.  Students have access to academic advisement from the professional EDGE staff throughout the year.

EDGE Advisors help students transition from high school to college and assist re-entry and late-entry students in adjusting to the academic environment.  The EDGE staff provides transition, campus/community resources, social and cultural enriching activities and help with general personal concerns.

Each semester EDGE Advisors and students work together to clarify specific goals to be addressed during the semester.  These goals are addressed in the Needs Assessment Plan.  The Needs Assessment tracks student progress toward formulated academic goals every semester and aids students in evaluating and refining their goals as necessary.  Participants review their Needs Assessment Plan each semester with the idea to expand their personal and academic goals.

In addition to the services mentioned, the EDGE Academic Advisors also assist students in using services provided by the Student Success Center, the Financial Aid Office, and Counseling and Career Services.
