“Trees Plus Two,” a collection of paintings by LaVonne Hite, will be on display in the Humanities Wing Gallery at San Juan College from March 6 through 30, 2004.
Hite earned a certificate from Famous Artists Course in Westport, Connecticut, and won two New Mexico Press Association awards for advertising design while working at The Daily Times. Evening painting courses at San Juan College drew her back to working with easel and palette.
Hite is inspired by magnificent landscapes, especially mountain aspens and river cottonwoods in the fall. Instructors Bill Hatch, John Cogan, and Kathy Walling have encouraged and guided Hite to express her inspiration on canvas.
Oil is her favorite medium.
The gallery is located at the top of the stairs in the new West Classroom Complex, the upper level of the remodeled gymnasium on the College’s main campus.
