Getting Started

Step One:  Be accepted to San Juan College

• Fill out the application for San Juan College at http://www.applyweb.com/aw?sjc
• Set up a time to take the Accuplacer Test

Step Two:  Find out if you are ready to take an online class

• Read the information and take the online readiness quiz at http://www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/163.asp
• This step is very important:  online classes take special skills.  It is important to find out if you possess the skills necessary to succeed in an online format before you take the class.
• Review the WebCT orientation materials at www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/1306.asp

Step Three:  Choose which Health Information Technology Program you wish to complete

• Fill out the Health Information application and choose a specific program at http://www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/2206.asp

Step Four:  Speak to an advisor and go through the interview process

• Call the Health Information Technology Department at (505)566-3597 to speak with the appropriate advisor for your program
• Clearance is required to enroll in Health Information Technology courses, except for HITP 110 (Medical Terminology)

Step Five:  Get ready for your class

• Complete the online WebCT orientation at http://www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/1306.asp
• Order your books from the San Juan College Bookstore by calling (505)566-3260. View the book list.
• If you live more than fifty miles away from San Juan College and plan to take classes online, you will need to find a proctor for your exams.  You can download the Proctor Agreement at http://www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/2211.asp

Step Six:  Access the class

• Log into WebCT on the first day of class
• Read the information provided by your instructor
• If you have any problems logging into WebCT contact your instructor immediately
