BIOL 121-41 HNRS: Introductory Biology I
Modern biology has made remarkable strides in unraveling the mysteries of the cell, many of which already are altering how we think about medicine and biological research. Many of these topics have significant social and moral aspects. Honors readings will to include such topics as: cloning, stem cell research, molecular medicine, and genetic engineering. If you are planning to pursue a degree in health care, biology, or just want to know stuff, this course will be of interest to you. Reminder: Biology 121 is the prerequisite course for almost all other biology courses.

BIOL 299/GEOL 299 Natural History of Southwestern National Parks
This course will be an introduction to the geology, botany and zoology of southwestern parks. The majority of the course will take place during spring break, when we will travel to the Grand Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Professors Burris, Heil and Vanderbilt will bring their varied expertise to this course. The field work will be physically rigorous, as it will involve several long hikes as well as some camping. There will be required informational meetings on March 1 and 15, then the journey will begin March 25. We will return on April 1.
