HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Medical Terminology courses are open to all SJC students, no matter their major. Prerequisite: A score of 76 on the Accuplacer Reading Test.
The following courses are open only to Health Information Technology, Medical Administrative Assisting, and Medical Biller/Coding majors having the required prerequisites that are listed in the SJC catalog under College Course Descriptions and are monitored by the Program Director. This class is open to all persons wanting to learn abut Managed Healthcare. Meets on Fridays, 5:30 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. -11:15 a.m. every other week beginning January 14.

HMSV 270 Human Services Profession and Practices
This course must be paired with HMSV Practicum 250 and HMSV Practicum 255. Students are required to enroll in this class prior to or while completing their HMSV Practicum. It will enable students to achieve a greater understanding of their practicum internship while examining professional ethics, conduct and a wide range of practice situations.
HMSV 298-41 HNRS: Nonviolence: Principles & Practice
This class will combine readings in the philosophy of nonviolence with practical skills in conflict and dispute resolution through mediation. Students will have the option, after the course ends, of signing up for practicum hours working with professional mediators in the community, and receiving a certificate in mediation themselves.
