MATH 185-65 HNRS: College Algebra
Hybrid (Web) Course: content delivered through the Internet, exams taken at main campus. This is an Honors Class; students will be required to complete lab assignments that will be done on Maple Software. Students may utilize Maple Software at the main campus computer labs or can purchase the software at the bookstore. Students must meet the mandatory prerequisites; required ACCUPLACER test scores or recent successful completion of Math 115, Intermediate Algebra (Math 130, Conceptual Mathematics does not meet this requirement). Students must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.00. Students will need to meet with the instructor prior to registering for the course. Students must attend a 90-minute orientation (mandatory) on Thursday, January 5th at 6:00 P.M. in Room 1922. Students need to purchase box CD software set and Companion Workbook from the bookstore.

For admission to this program. and permission to register for courses, call Sandra Johnson at 505-566-3078. First and second semester MTRN student MUST register for all five of the courses in those series. There is a one-time book cost of $230 due first semester and an equipment cost of $160 due second semester.

MUSI 114-51 Fundamentals of Music Theory
An introduction to basic materials and concepts of music theory, melody, harmony, rhythm, form and expression. This course is designed for those with little or no musical training and may be used as a Humanities requirement.

MUSI 157-31 Class Piano I

MUSI 172-31 Concert Choir
Large choral group. Open enrollment. This class includes performance of all styles of choral music. May be used as an Applies Arts elective.

MUSI 174-31 Vocal Ensemble
ENROLLMENT BY AUDITION ONLY. This is a select performance group who will sing all styles of music; emphasis on country and classic pop.

MUSI 175-51 Audio Amplification
Introduction to sound re-enforcement and recording techniques. Includes hands on experience with sound systems in various music recording and performance situations. This course is a prerequisite to Digital Audio Recording, MUSI 275.

MUSI 180-51 Concert Band
Performance ensemble including both students and community members. A broad repertoire of performance styles are exposed and presented in a concert at the end of each semester.

MUSI 182-51 Jazz Ensemble
Performance ensemble exploring a wide range of jazz styles from swing to fusion.

MUSI 184-51 Orchestra
Full symphony orchestra dedicated to performing major works from standard orchestral repertoire. Minimum of high school level of playing ability required.

MUSI 187-71 AMPU: Jazz Combo
Includes all styles of pop and country music, stylization, chart-reading development of melody and rhythm patterns, and improvisation.

MUSI 190-31 Computers in Music
An introductory study of computer applications in music. Topics include: sequencing, music notation, and MIDI set up through the use of computers and MIDI keyboards.
