Living Life

March 31 through May 1, 2005

Fishin PardsThe Library Gallery at San Juan College will show “Living Life,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Sue Current, from March 31 through May 1.

Sue Current was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, moved to Farmington in 1966, and returned to Texas in 1980 with her husband Eugene and their family. After 25 years of little time to paint while raising a family, Sue began painting in earnest when she and Gene moved back to Farmington. She has studied at San Juan College with Bill Hatch and John Cogan and feels people can never quit learning.

Sue loved painting Texas oaks and bluebonnets, but then discovered she had a talent for painting people. This has become her first love as an artist. She says, “Life and the way people live it intrigue me as an artist.  I love painting children.” Sue has only entered two juried shows to this point, and she won a first and Best in Show in each. She has sold numerous pieces of art both in Texas and New Mexico. “I mostly paint for me and the sheer enjoyment of seeing what happens when the brush hits the canvas, but if someone enjoys it, too, it really makes it fun.”

Library hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information call (505) 566-3464.
