Deputy Sheriff (Entry), Job # 57-2013
Sheriff's Office, Aztec, NM
Salary: $21.48-$22.10 per hour
Position Description and Desired Qualifications:
Deputy Sheriffs enforce local, state and federal laws and regulations, policies and procedures. Patrols assigned area to enforce laws, investigate crimes and arrest violators; drives vehicle through assigned area, observing traffic violations and issuing citations; responds to non-routine and extraordinary situations; responds to call of criminal activity and accidents; restores peace. Assumes control at traffic accidents to maintain traffic flow, assists accident victims, and investigates causes of accidents. Prepares reports of criminal activity and civil disturbances including traffic accidents. Investigates illegal or suspicious activities of persons, quells disturbances, and arrests law violators; locates and takes persons into custody on arrest warrants. Transports or escorts prisoners between courtrooms, prison and medical facilities. Exercises discretion and common sense in an effort to uphold department standards of community oriented policing. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
"Must possess a high school diploma or GED and be 21 years of age. Must have the ability to pass a physical ability course, oral interview and extensive background check, and written, psychological, medical and polygraph exams.
