Position Description and Qualifications
Challenge Mfg. Company is a leading Tier 1 automotive manufacturer of welded assemblies and engineered metal formed products to the global automotive industry. Headquartered in Walker, Michigan, Challenge operates manufacturing facilities across North America.

Our rapid growth has created immediate openings for experienced Weld Engineers at our facility in Kansas City, MO.

Weld Engineers are a key part of our Engineering Department and are responsible for working with maintenance personnel to support production from a welding engineering standpoint; ensuring professional welding practices; troubleshooting complications with manufacturing process; developing weld procedures, specifications and qualifications; developing and implementing poke yoke devices; developing new weld fixturing concepts for new product design; implementing concepts to reduce set up time for manufacturing; maintaining a continuous improvement focus; and implementing robotic weld equipment improvements.

Prefer candidates with experience with Medar weld equipment, GD&T, Process Flow, APQP, and resistance and MIG welding in both hard automatic and robotic welding applications required. An understanding of how to properly set weld parameters utilizing GM’s standards preferred.
