PTA PROGRAMS
San Juan College has two PTA Programs, an On-Campus Program and an Online Program. Click on Prerequisite Courses to view the courses that must be completed prior to beginning the PTA Program in January of each year. Click on On-Campus Curriculum or Online Curriculum to view the sequence of the PTA courses for each program. The Online Program requires students to be at San Juan College approximately one week per PTA lab course toward the end of the semester.
PTA Profession
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is an important member of the dynamic profession of physical therapy. PTAs are licensed health care providers working under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. PTAs use physical agents, rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic exercise, and patient education to help patients whose abilities have been impaired by an accident, illness, or disease.
Associate of Applied Science Degree
San Juan College offers On-Campus and Online PTA Programs leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
Accreditation
Both PTA programs have probationary accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). See the Public Disclosure Notice.

Facility
The PTA lab overlooks Pinon Hills Golf Course, ranked the #1 municipal course by Golf Digest in 2002. The lab is equipped with plinths, massage tables, electric high-low tables, traction tables, and mat tables. The PTA Program has state-of-the-art equipment, including hot pack, cold pack, paraffin bath, tilt table, hoyer lift, ultrasound, and electrotherapy machines.
