Provisional Non-Degree Student Information

Provisional Non-Degree Requirements
Provisional admission is intended for the student not seeking a degree or certificate at San Juan college or for students who do not
meet the requirements for regular degree-seeking admission. Courses taken as a provisional admit may be transferred to another college, taken for job improvement, or personal enrichment. No college or high school transcripts are required to be admitted as a non-degree student. Please note: Admission as a regular degree-seeking student is required to be considered for financial aid or to earn any type of degree.

If a student wishes to change from non-degree to degree-seeking status, the student must meet the requirements for regular admission (above) and complete a Change of Status form which is available at the Admissions & Records Office. If a student graduated from high school, but did not achieve the state-mandated passing scores on the state graduation exam (pass all proficiency requirements), the student will need to complete 12 non-remedial credits at San Juan College with a minimum GPA of 2.0 to qualify for a change of status to regular degree-seeking. In addition, the student must submit offical transcripts from high school and/or college.

A student eighteen years or older who has not completed high school or a GED program and whose high school class has graduated may be admitted to San Juan College as a Provisional Non-High School student. Under this admission status, a student cannot earn a degree or certificate.

Upon successful completion of a GED program, the student may request a change of status to Regular Admission. All credits earned at San Juan College will be accepted in a degree or certificate program as appropriate.
