Financial Aid Workshop Series

Are you planning to attend college in the fall? Need help with your financial aid? San Juan College, in conjunction with the FAFSA Free-for-All program, will host a series of free financial aid workshops, February, March and April, to help make the process easier.

Each of the workshops will be held in the San Juan College Testing Center, in room 7129, located in the Information Technology Center (Copper Top building) on the Farmington Campus. Financial Aid workshops include:

Managing Financial Aid and Spending:

The workshop will provide tools and information to help students understand their financial aid and learn how to manage finances while in school.

  • Tuesday, February 12, at 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 26, at 6 p.m.

Financial Aid Basics and FAFSA Completion Assistance:

Participants will review financial aid procedures and complete a 2013-14 Financial Aid application during the workshop. Students who complete one of the three FAFSA workshops in February will be entered into a drawing to win prizes including a laptop and $500 scholarship, provided by FAFSA Free-for-All program.

Dont Lose your Financial Aid Tips to Stay Eligible:

Workshop presenters will discuss academic standards and other eligibility criteria that students must maintain to keep financial aid coming.

All About Scholarships:

Students will learn about scholarships programs and apply for scholarships during the workshop.

  • Tuesday, March 5, at 6 p.m.

While current college students are encouraged to attend, the workshop series is especially beneficial to first-time college students as well as their parents.

"The workshop series is a great opportunity to get one-on-one help with your FAFSA application and learn more about financial aid opportunities," says Jerry McKeen, SJC senior director of Financial Aid.

Registration is required, and the workshops are free. Space is limited, so register early.
