These courses cover overall safety, first aid and hazardous waste for emergency operations applicable to the oil field, construction, power plants, etc. Students can take any or all programs. The courses cover five days total, and can be taken all in one week or different weeks to give businesses flexibility for scheduling. Safety courses can be customized to fit customer requirements.

 

Safety: Basic Environmental Safety Training (BEST)

This awareness course covers sixteen different safety topics and each topic has a quiz at the end of each training section for documentation. It provides the necessary information and training for entry level employees in the oil field, construction, or the general work force. At the satisfactory completion of the program, individuals will receive a Certification of Completion and a pocket card indicating the covered topics.

1 Day: 8-Hour Class

 

First Aid and CPR / Confined Space

The following two courses are taken on the same day:

The First Aid/CPR course provides the information and hands-on training for certification through the Medic First Aid Program provide by San Juan College’s School of Energy. Certificate upon completion.

The Confined Space program provides information and theory training that satisfies the OSHA requirements of an awareness program. Certificate upon completion.

1 Day: 8-Hour Class


Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response—24 Hours

This 24 Hour Technician/Specialist program includes three days of hazardous waste operations for Technicians or Specialists who work with hazardous materials or respond to hazardous spills in the work location. Certificate upon completion.

3 Days: 24 Hours Total

 

Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response—8-Hour Refresher

The 8 Hour Awareness program provides information and training for the first time employee who could handle or assist with hazardous materials; or it’s a refresher for people who’ve completed the 24 Hour or 40 Hour courses. Upon successful completion of this training, each individual will receive an 8 Hour Haz Woper Awareness Certificate from San Juan College. The program complies with OSHA requirements to maintain current status for individuals that have completed 24 hour and 40 hour programs. Certificate upon completion.
