OTS Current Projects
Datatel ActiveCampus Portal
SJC has purchased Datatel’s Active Campus Portal that will provide seamless integration with WebAdvisor, Exchange, and other SJC applications. While the portal will be operational in the fall, OTS will not make the changeover to the new portal until returning faculty and students have had a chance to become familiar with the navigation and new features. More information can be found on the OTS website as the implementation progresses.
Portal Project Progress
The hardware has been installed and the backend SQL cluster is operational. A test environment for Active Directory has been set up and a test version of ActiveCampus running on Microsoft SharePoint server is operational. There are several pieces to the project, including redundant web servers and an indexing service as well as adding Single Sign On (SSO) functionality to our main applications such as email. The team has configured the test environment for SSO and have implemented Microsoft Live Mail and ANGEL integration. Installation of the ActiveCampus portal in a production environment should be completed by the first week in August. Once the production environment is up and running a focus group will begin the process of examining the portal and making recommendations for the look and functionality of the portal.

ANGEL Learning Management System
ANGEL will be implemented this summer and available in the fall for online programs PTAP, Vet Tech, and HITP as well as early adopters wishing to get a start on the new system. There will be many training classes throughout the year on the new ANGEL platform; however, SJC will continue to keep WebCT for a year as we transition to the new system.
ANGEL Project Progress
The test ANGEL server was installed in late March. Marty Hill, Lisa McCord and Lynn Lane attended training for Administration and Training for the ANGEL product. The hardware for the production ANGEL environment has been installed and the production environment is up and running. Online Services along with Lisa McCord have been making the final configuration changes and the faculty have access to the server. Lynn Lane has gone through one week long course for ANGEL and is planning several more trainings. Online Services is also offering online training for ANGEL.

San Juan College has implemented a new student email system called Microsoft Live@EDU. All students are now using this email as their official San Juan College email system.
Format for your new email addresses will be username@my.sanjuancollege.edu
Microsoft Live@EDU Project Progress
All students who applied and registered for the Summer 08 semester and going forward have their email accounts created in Microsoft Live@EDU as part of the account creation process. In addition, over 18,000 current student accounts have been added to the Live@EDU email. Links have been created within the mailboxes to point to important San Juan College web pages, such as WebAdvisor and the San Juan College home page. A tab has also been added within the current My SJC Portal to access the Live@EDU mail. The Administrative Applications team has completed the programming to make this email available within the new ActiveCampus portal.
Added Benefits:
- The accounts created in Microsoft Live@EDU are accounts that you will be able to keep even after you leave San Juan College.
- The accounts give students 5 GB of mail storage and an additional 5 GB of Sky Drive space, which is a file storage area accessible from the web.
- SkyDrive space allows students to collaborate with other “invited” users on files and projects.
- Students will have their own “Space” where they can share information, photos, blogs, etc.
- There is now the capability for students to create a calendar appointment with an instructor at San Juan College.
- Have alerts sent to your cell phone for calendar items, weather and many other options (some text messaging fees may apply)
- Students will also be able to forward your Live@EDU email to another email account.
