Request Tier II Account
The Office of Technology Service's two-tiered system for providing a web presence for SJC faculty offers two methods for making information available online. Each differs in its implementation and the level and means of access that faculty have to their web pages.
The first option, or Tier I, offers faculty the use of a standardized template hosted by the SiteBuilder content management system. This template provides faculty with the option of providing content in a number of topic areas, with a certain minimum set of information being required. All faculty will have a Tier I page containing the minimum information required by the template, and will have the option of expanding on this page by providing content under other topic areas contained in the template. Managing and maintaining this Tier I page is done exclusively through the SiteBuilder content management system.
The second option, or Tier II, offers faculty the opportunity to manage and maintain their own website by utilizing storage space hosted on the new faculty web server. Under this system, a faculty member will be able to build their own website using the editing software of their choice and will not be required to adhere to a predesigned template. This hosted storage space is accessed via FTP and the website itself is accessed via the URL:
http://faculty.sanjuancollege.edu/facultyfirstinitiallastname
The new faculty web server for Tier II websites is now online and OTS is taking signups for new accounts. If you haven't done so already, please read the Webpage Workgroup Summary and Proposal that describes and defines the scope of this project.
