Health and Human Performance Center Policies and etiquette

  • San Juan College issued ID must be used to enter facility. Replacement IDs cost $5.00.
  • All patrons must abide by San Juan College’s Visitor/Guest Policies and adhere to the San Juan College Student Code of Conduct Policy.
     
  • Please wipe down equipment after use.
     
  • No food is allowed in the Fitness Conditioning Center or Gymnasium.
     
  • Only Health and Human Performance Center staff are permitted to provide training and instruction.
     
  • No denim jeans or shorts with riveted pockets are permitted in the Fitness Conditioning Center.
     
  • Sharing of machines and equipment is expected. Please alternate sets with others and limit time on cardio equipment when people are waiting.
     
  • Proper use of safety collars is required on all free weight lifts.
     
  • Do NOT drop weights or dumbbells, do NOT lean weights against machines or walls/windows.
     
  • Return all weight plates and dumbbells back to racks.
     
  • Athletic shoes must be worn at all times. Absolutely NO sandals or open toed/open heeled shoes are permitted in the Fitness Conditioning Center or on the climbing tower.
     
  • Please be respectful of other patrons and staff.
     
  • Health and Human Performance Center staff will address any situation that they deem inappropriate and/or unsafe.
     
  • Failure to abide by these policies may result in loss of Health and Human Performance Center privileges.

 

Children at the Health and Human Performance Center

Children under 3 years of age: Access to indoor track ONLY during designated times (M-F 9:30-11:30 & 1-3; Sat 6:30–1:30). Children must be in strollers or “kangaroo” style carriers and MUST be with the parent/legal guardian at all times.

Children 3 – 4 years of age: Access to Fit Kids and access to the indoor track ONLY during designated times (M-F 9:30-11:30 & 1-3; Sat 6:30–1:30). Children must be in strollers or “kangaroo” style carriers and MUST be with the parent/legal guardian at all times.

Children 5 – 13 years of age: Access to climbing wall (this age group cannot belay), corridor, indoor track, and gymnasium only. Parents must be engaged and actively participating with the child in the same activity at all times.

Children 14 – 17 years of age: Parent/legal guardian must purchase child HHPC Jr. pass that allows access to the entire HHPC Facility.  No adult supervision is required. This group can belay other certified climbers after passing belay proficiency test.
