Biography

Josh has been instructing for the San Juan College OLER program since 2005.  He is the instructor of Introduction to Mountaineering, High Altitude Mountaineering, Sport Climbing, AIARE Avalanche Level 1, AIARE Avalanche Level 2, Ski Mountaineering, and Rock Climbing Rescue.  In addition to instructing for SJC, Josh owns and operates his own guide service, Kling Mountain Guides, in Durango Colorado.  His climbing and trekking have taken him around the globe. Along with instructing for SJC and operating KMG, he also instructs courses at Fort Lewis College in Durango CO for the Outdoor Pursuits program, teaches at the Silverton Avalanche School in Silverton Colorado. He has guided on four continents.  Josh has completed rock and ski guide training through the American Mountain Guides Association. He is a Wilderness First Responder, Professional Member of the American Avalanche Association, an American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Level 1 and 2 Course Leader, Leave-No-Trace Master Educator, a professional member of the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education, and a graduate of Fort Lewis College. He is a Technical Team Member, Training Instructor, and Ski Team Coordinator with La Plata County Search and Rescue in Colorado.
