Humanities Balcony Gallery
Children's Art Show
May 9, 2008 - May 30 2008
Reception: May 9 – 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The original artwork of children ages 4 to 9 will be featured in an exhibit at San Juan College from May 9 to 30 in the Humanities Gallery. The show will open with a meet-the-artists reception from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 9.
Under the tutelage of Judy Hudson, director of the Early Childhood Education program at the College, children learned to draw using the Monart method, which incorporates a sort of “alphabet” of shapes used in combination to form objects.
Children in Hudson’s class have been working on their art throughout the spring, drawing turtles, lions, kokopellis, vases of flowers, an abstract piece and more. Children are from the pre-K and kindergarten class at the College’s Child and Family Development Center, as well as older children in kindergarten through third grade from the public schools. More than 20 children participated.
The exhibit is open to the public and will be in the Humanities Gallery, upstairs in the West Classroom Complex on the College’s Farmington campus. For information, call 505-566-3464.
The Art Gallery is open
