Mathematics (AS.MATH) 64 credit hours
Just about any career that is technical in nature requires some expertise in math. It's great preparation for engineering, law, or medicine, and there are a variety of employment opportunities such as an actuary, or in statistics, education, and health sciences. Some government agencies like NASA, the National Security Agency, and the Department of Agriculture hire graduates of advanced programs who are skilled in applied mathematics.
At San Juan College, we offer an Associates of Science (AS) degree in Mathematics that will prepare you to transfer to a four-institution to pursue your bachelor's degree. Courses range from basic developmental to upper level coursework in linear algebra and differential equations. Our classroom settings are small, providing you with the individualized attention from instructors that will help you succeed. Or you might choose to take your course at home with one of our online options.
Mathematics is important in almost any field that requires problem solving and analytical reasoning, making it part of other degree programs such as engineering and computer science. Talk to an academic advisor to find out about all your options.
