Duties & Responsibilities:

The position reports directly to the Dean of Health Sciences. This individual is responsible for coordinating and managing the skills lab schedule and instruction periods for all Health Science Programs, in conjunction with the faculty responsible for the instruction. Coordinate and assist in creating and directing systematic review, evaluation, and revision of curriculum with individual program directors; with the primary goal of maximizing simulations to enhance each specific program in accordance with their accreditation guidelines.


Maintains computerized scheduling, assure set-ups for all lab sessions and is responsible for purchasing, inventory and maintenance of all equipment and supplies. Supervises and trains lab assistants; orients all faulty/staff, students and community members regarding lab usage and procedures with the primary goal of increasing clinical competence. Assists students in laboratory and skills testing with oversight by faculty as needed. Other duties as assigned and commensurate with educational qualifications will include participating in curriculum planning and revision; assisting with all Health Science education activities; attending various department meetings, college committee meetings and other tasks as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications:

Individual must be licensed as an RN by the NM Board of Nursing; EMT Paramedic; or be eligible for licensure in a Health Science Profession. A Bachelor’s degree in their field plus a minimum of 3 years of Health Professional experience required. Experience in patient and community education a must, plus a current CPR and blood borne pathogens certification are required. Must value diversity, have a multi-cultural perspective and be highly motivated with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. Individual must possess strong communication/clinical skills; demonstrate the ability to team build across all Health Sciences professions; be familiar with basic word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling maintenance, use of internet and e-mail systems. Knowledge of OSHA regulations relating to storage and disposal of sensitive materials and equipment is required.
