Finding my Place
October 2, 2008 - November 7, 2008
Reception: October 2 – 3 to 5 p.m.
Art has been a wonderful, lifelong adventure for me. I started with drawing and gravitated towards the beautiful colors of pastels. I was introduced to oil painting, but I did not originally have great success with it. I had my children, and soon started pursuing other artistic interests – stained glass, water color, pottery and metal sculpture. Three years ago, I came back to oil painting. I have since discovered through Bill Hatch’s simple and direct instruction and his encouragement to stretch my abilities and the way that I view the world around me, that I do have some talent in this area after all. This journey had led me to discover many different artistic styles, from painting what I see, to copying Master Works for technique, to stretching what I see into brightly colored renditions that can be either representational or abstract. I consider Bill to be my mentor and my friend and I feel that I owe the success of having this show to him. Each day, I wake up wishing I had more time to paint as I continue to find new ways to see, and new subject matter to paint in new and exciting ways. I wish you all a similar life journey.
The Art Gallery is open
