Celebrating 50 Years of Painting in the Four Corners

Celebrating 50 years of
Painting in the Four Corners

October 24, 2008 — November 21, 2008

Reception: Friday, October 24 – 6 to 8 p.m.

Having come to Farmington, New Mexico for three months, fifty years later K K Walling is still painting the Four Corners area and calling it home.

As a plein air painter of oil landscapes, Kathy Walling tries to capture the light, shadow, color or mood - that which draws her to the subject - and to communicate that feeling to the viewer. A boldness of brush strokes and variety in paint texture add interest and feeling to her work. Paintings inspired by new places when traveling and the southwest, especially New Mexico, are the basis for most of Kathy’s paintings. Some plein air works are the basis for larger paintings developed in the studio.
