The San Juan College Mentorship Program opens doors to your future! As a participant in the program, you will learn more about your chosen profession first-hand from a health care professional in this region. Your mentor will provide you insight into how to plan for your education, how to balance work, family and school, and how to build professional networks!

Once you complete the mentorship application, you will be matched with health care mentor based on your career choice, gender choice and other preferences. After you are matched, you will meet with your mentor at least once per month, and communicate by phone or email even more frequently. Regular mentorship activities will be sponsored to help you structure and strengthen your mentorship relationships.

The Mentorship Process Includes:

  • Learning about you and your interests so that you can make the best choices regarding your future
  • Meeting a caring professional who will listen to you and provide encouragement and expert guidance as you complete your education
  • Meeting with your mentor in their workplace to observe and discuss your profession and your goals. The frequency and length of your mentorship meetings will be depend on the schedules and goals of the mentor and mentee.
  • Sharing your mentorship experiences with others!
