Duties & Responsibilities:
|
The position reports to the Director of Surgical Technology Program and will teach 12-16 student credit hours per semester of surgical technology didactic, laboratory and clinical. Position will maintain 5 office hours(minimum) per week: participate in college councils and committees as assigned: assist in curriculum review and accreditation documentation: advise students: and participate in any program events. Other duties may include assisting the Director with preparation of semester schedules, student records, participation in college activities and other related tasks. Work with Director to develop an online program and Scrub Technology certificate curriculum. Instruction times may vary possibly including evening hours. Classroom locations may vary to include: SJC Main Campus, SJC East Campus and SJC West Campus. San Juan College Employee compensation/benefits available in association with this position.

Qualifications:
|
AST (Associate of Surgical Technologist) Certification required. Qualified candidate must have five years current scrubbing experience; or three years teaching surgical technology; or a combination of experience and teaching. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Knowledge of surgical accreditation standards, current surgical technology and methodology, instructional technologies is desired. Must demonstrate computer proficiency with Online Course knowledge preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with the other professionals, communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students, and employ analytical skills in assessing the needs of surgical technology programs in recruitment, educational processes and student learning outcomes. The successful candidate will be dynamic, have strong inter-personal skills, and have a high energy level along with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. The candidate should value diversity and have a multi-cultural perspective with adult/minority students. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times, ability to stoop and stand for long periods of time, and run heavy/awkward equipment in a surgical environment. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
