Medical Laboratory Technology Program

San Juan College offers a Medical Laboratory Technician Program leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. This program provides the student with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the profession of medical laboratory. Students who successfully complete all program requirements are eligible to sit for the national certification examination.

Doing Research

Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) are essential members of the healthcare team, acting as detectives, uncovering and providing clues that assist physicians in patient diagnosis and treatment as well as disease monitoring or prevention. The MLT uses sophisticated biomedical instrumentation and technologies to perform laboratory testing of blood and body fluids. Facilities

The San Juan College Medical Laboratory Technician Program is housed in a state of the art student laboratory in the new 13,000 square foot Health Sciences Simulation Center (HSSC) at San Juan College. The student MLT laboratory is 1078 square feet which includes the lab and media prep work room. The student laboratory is equipped with current medical laboratory instrumentation and pathology quality microscope and image capture and projection system. Lecture and laboratories are all equipped with the latest classroom technology.

San Juan College itself is located in Farmington New Mexico, in the heart of America’s beautiful Southwest. The 4-corners region of New Mexico is in the midst of magnificent scenery, ancient history and exhilarating recreational opportunities.
