STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
The ENLACE Ambassador Program is a talented group of students who gain valuable volunteer and leadership experience that transform communities. There are only five positions available which every student must go through an application and selection process. Student Ambassadors are current SJC students selected on the basis of leadership, scholarship, professionalism and desire to promote education and the better being of their community. Ambassadors uphold the philosophy, mission and goals of ENLACE by personal example and by serving as hosts and hostesses for ENLACE.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours per semester and stay enrolled throughout the semester
- Must have and maintain 2.0 GPA or higher (GED 480)
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Have at least 1 semester to contribute to program (preferably 2)
- Practice and uphold professionalism including responsibility, dependability and punctuality
- Sincere desire to represent SJC and ENLACE as a Student Ambassador
Responsibilities
- Complete 3 mandatory events each semester
- Identify and attend 2 professional/educational training/conference/symposium/seminar
- Attend an ambassador training at the beginning of each semester.
- Attend meeting twice a month (no more that 1 hour per meeting)
- Must represent ENLACE with professionalism at all times

Other Information
- Only five positions available
- Ambassadors can expect to work a minimal amount of 60 (4 hours per week) hours per semester
- All responsibilities are required, as stated above, to receive stipend and other program incentives
- Ambassadors are responsible for notifying ENLACE staff if they are unable to make their scheduled event (within 24-hours of event start-time). If missing an event, Ambassador must makeup missed event with an equivalent event that semester
- One unexcused absence from assigned event or bi-monthly meeting will result in your termination from the Student Ambassador program and all funding will have to be refunded to ENLACE
Selection Criteria
- Sincere desire to represent ENLACE events and San Juan College
- Enthusiasm to work with the Latino community
- Comfortably in large groups and give presentations
- Ability to work well with others
- Responsibility and dependability
- Desire to learn and develop skill sets described above
Application Procedure
- Fill out the application and submit by Friday, August 28, 2009
- Submit a resume, transcripts and class schedule
- Schedule an interview with ENLACE staff members for Tuesday, September 1, 2009 or Thursday, September 3, 2009. This will be a bilingual interview.
- Reference check by ENLACE Personnel
- Students will be notified if selected by Friday, September 4, 2009
- You must attend an Ambassador training on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 4:00pm at the ENLACE Family Center
