A colorful exhibit of paintings that express the interconnectedness of life will be featured as the San Juan College Humanities Art Gallery presents "The Spirit of Light," August 19 – September 17. An opening reception is slated for Thursday, August 19, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The show features the work of artist Fionna Buck. Her vibrant, colorful paintings express the interconnectedness of life utilizing the symbolism of energy, movement, spirals, time, weather and light.

"I strive for purity and simplicity, always honing my work to its essence," she explains.

Buck is a distinguished teacher and artist in her native Scotland. Throughout her career, Buck has exhibited her work in galleries in London, Scotland, France and Switzerland, as well as several throughout New Mexico, including Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque.

The Humanities Art Gallery is located in the Humanities balcony in the West Classroom Complex. It is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information about this exhibit or other Gallery events, contact Cindy McNealy at 566-3464.
