In 1993, as I was reaching a measure of success in Public Art commissions, my SUV was rear-ended by a delivery van. As a result I lost both physical and mental capabilities that have taken the better part of 15 years to recover. After much hard work and perseverance I am encouraged by a significant recovery. From this I have learned: Dont take for granted your gifts and talents, they can be gone in an instant. Also, discover what you can do well, not what you think you should do.
Patt Abbott majored in painting, design and theater arts at Rollins College in Florida from 1959-1963. She earned her Masters degree in painting and lithography at University of Tulsa in Oklahoma from 1970 to 1979. She took courses in literature and culture from the University of London, and post MFA work in psychology and education at the University of New Mexico.
