Enjoy a delightful art show that reflects improbable situations, tongue-in-cheek observations, whimsical incidents and gentle humor when the San Juan College Humanities Gallery presents “Stories in Collage,” September 23 – October 22. The exhibit showcases the work of artist Carol Mullen, who utilizes a variety of mixed media, collage and acrylic paint. An opening reception is slated for Thursday, September 23 from 3 to 5 p.m.

“I love to express anomalies, whimsy, oxymoron’s, puns and parables, metaphors, warmth, free radicals, plain truth and silliness in my work,” Mullen says. “I combine that with depth, visual texture, color and shape.”

A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Mullen earned a bachelor of fine arts with a concentration in painting and drawing, and master’s degree in art education. Along with working as a high school art instructor, she has displayed her work at a variety of galleries throughout New Mexico. She also has juried exhibitions throughout the county including in Chicago, New York, Oregon and Alaska.
