For more than 20 years, the Center for Workforce Training (CWT) has provided flexible training options that are tailored to meet the needs and requirements of our community partners. Helping students succeed and strengthening economic development are among our top strategic directions at San Juan College.

It is vital that we provide training today so our workforce will be better prepared to meet the needs of tomorrow. Along with offering more than 100 degrees and certificates through the College, the Center for Workforce Training provides fast-track classes that can strengthen skills for an employee’s current position or prepare them for a new one.

Summer is the perfect time to improve upon a variety of skills. The Center for Workforce Training offers a wide variety of computer and technology courses including a Microsoft Office Excel 2013 class. Having a solid understanding of computer technology is important, and Excel proficiency is required in almost all of today’s occupations.

You may also want to take advantage of any one of the Leadership Development Toolbox classes offered this summer. These classes provide employees and teams with an array of opportunities to fine tune their leadership and interpersonal communication skills. Management personnel have reported significant results after employees have attended these trainings. We have received remarks such as, “I have noticed an improvement in team involvement, better attitudes, a drive to do a better job and more engagement in their job duties.”

We make learning easy by allowing education to fit into the student’s time frame through our ed2go classes. There are more than 300 online, non-credit professional development courses in Accounting and Finance; Business; Technology, Design and Composition, Writing and Publishing, and Professional Bookkeeping available.

School of Energy also offers an array of one-day energy industry related classes as well – from training in Compressor Valves and Disposal Wells to Basic Engine Theory and Theory of Line Locating.

Whether you are an individual looking to advance your skills, or a supervisor interested in building a stronger team, San Juan College’s Center for Workforce Training has just what you need. I hope you will explore the many options, and we look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
