Center for teaching excellence
The Center for Teaching Excellence offers programs to support faculty who are new to teaching, new to teaching at San Juan College, or experienced teachers with innovative ideas at San Juan College.
Adjunct Academy provides an opportunity to network with colleagues and experience a variety of teaching and learning strategies, including formulating a teaching philosophy, preparing to teach, and motivating students to learn. This program goes beyond traditional professional development workshops to strike at the heart of what makes a good teacher, theoretically and in practice. Whether you are new to teaching or are new to teaching at San Juan College, you won't want to miss this unique learning experience!
Connect U is an opportunity for new adjunct faculty members to connect with faculty and staff prior to the start of the semester. The goal of Connect U is to increase instructional effectiveness, improve instructor confidence, promote student satisfaction, and support academic achievement within a learner-centered college classroom. San Juan College recognizes the vitality, experience, and expertise of our adjunct faculty. You are invaluable assets to our institution!
The Distinguished Teaching Chairs Project is a major effort by the Board of San Juan College and the San Juan College Foundation to demonstrate its commitment to quality instruction by recognizing and fostering faculty excellence with a cash award $7,500 per year and a professional development opportunity. There are four categories of Distinguished Chair Projects awarded in the areas of Nursing, Literacy and Math Competency, General Chair, and Native American Studies.
