Secondary Ed Teacher Alternative Licensure (CER.SEC) 16 credit hours
Special Education Alternative Licensure (CER.SPED) 21 credit hours
Special Education Alternative Licensure (CER.SPED) 21 credit hours

The Alternative Teacher Licensure Program at San Juan College is a post baccalaureate professional development program that offers three licensure tracks:

  • Elementary Education – 19 credits
  • Secondary Education – 16 credits
  • Special Education – 21 credits

The Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) accepts candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher, who wish to become a teacher. Courses in this intense three semester program are sequenced to cover the New Mexico Public Education Department Teaching Competencies and prepare candidates to meet the State of New Mexico requirements for teacher licensure.
