The San Juan College Library is organized using the Library of Congress Classification. Education topics can be found in the LA-LB section of the library.  Curriculum development material, including lesson plans, can be found in the LB section of the circulating collection.  Browsing that section can be helpful to get a general idea of our resources.  Additional materials, especially on topics such as Child Development, are spread throughout the library.  A more thorough search can be done using the online library catalog.

Journal Articles

To find articles on education and curriculum topics, indexes to periodicals are a good place to start.  They can be searched by subject and keywords.  They provide citations to journal articles.  Some of the electronic indexes also provide the full-text of articles.

Electronic Indexes and Abstracts

ERICprovides full-text education journal articles and reports.

First Search:

Education Abstracts: Contains abstracts from 550 publications in the field of education.  Provides some full-text articles.  Covers 1983 to the present.  Abstracts from 1994.

ERIC: Contains annotated references to educational materials issued in the monthly Resources in Education (RIE) and to journal articles issued in the monthly Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE).  Provides some full-text articles. Covers 1966 to the present. 

Library Lit: Includes records for selected library journals, books (more than 600 a year), conference proceedings, library school theses, pamphlets, and book reviews.  Includes English and non-English records. Provides some full-text articles.  Covers 1980 to the present.

Wilson Select and Wilson Select Plus: Provides full-text articles in education and other fields.  Covers 1994 to the present.

InfoTrac Professional Collection: Over 250 full text magazine articles for education professionals.

Print Indexes (located near the Periodical back issues)

Education Index: Covers education periodicals from 1989 to the present.  Earlier editions, back to 1971, are available upon request.
