Humanities Balcony Gallery

Potpourri Del' Artista, Variety of the Artist

October 27, 2011- December 2, 2011

Reception: October 27 – 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Art enthusiast will appreciate an array of watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings of Shirlee Riley in an exhibit titled Potpourri Del’ Artista, Variety of the Artist, at the San Juan College Humanities Gallery, October 27 – December 2. An opening reception will be held Thursday, October 27, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Riley’s collection of paintings is the result of studying under Bill Hatch, SJC professor of Art, who she says has made learning enriching and fun. Her inspirations often reflect her experiences of reading art history, visiting art museums and galleries, and even simply talking about art.

I have come to realize that painting is another vocabulary,” Riley adds. “I have a sense of fulfillment and joy when I experience the feeling that I have had a conversation with my viewer.

The SJC Humanities Art Gallery is located in the Humanities balcony in the West Classroom Complex. It is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information about this exhibit or other Gallery events, contact Cindy McNealy at 566-3464 or mcnealyc@sanjuancollege.edu .
