++ Don’t miss the show currently in the Art Gallery by the Four Corners Weavers Guild. There are beautiful pieces, ranging from dish towels to winter coats. Many of the pieces are for sale and would make lovely gifts. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday. The gallery is closed weekends.

 

++ College Association will meet at 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 25, in room 9010. Everyone is invited.

 

++ Phi Theta Kappa is holding the annual Knowledge Bowls for high school and middle school students. Volunteers are needed to read, be timers, scorekeepers and more. The bowls are set for November 4 (high school) and November 5 (middle school). If you can volunteer, contact John Sarich at ext. 3142 or email him at SarichJ@sanjuancollege.edu.

 

++ Photos by anthropology professor Dr. Karen Benally are on display in the Humanities Gallery through October 28. These color photographs, “Images of the Yucatán,” were shot on the trip to the Yucatán Dr. Benally led last May. The Humanities Gallery is located upstairs in the west classroom complex. It is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

++ The Library’s Meet the Author series continues at 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, with Farmington author Heather Proffer, in room 9010 of the Henderson Fine Arts Center. A retired school teacher, Proffer writes about her German-Mexican youth growing up on the Mexican border, in Germany, and finally in the United States. Her book “Feeling Counterfeit” explores the confusion and difficulty in constructing a personal identity in light of cultural differences and personal hardship. Admission is free.

 

++ The staff of Highlands University in Farmington want to thank the faculty and staff of San Juan College for their support in attending the Highlands University open house, which was held on October 19 to let the community know that the Farmington Center is going strong. Highlands is here to serve students and values its partnership with San Juan College. Your attendance was noted and appreciated.
