New Mexico Highlands University

San Juan College and New Mexico Highlands University have established a Memo of Understanding that defines a partnership and process for students to transfer and complete their four-year degree at NMHU. Students who complete an Associate's Degree at SJC will be admitted to NMHU with full junior standing (a minimum of 64 semester credit hours).

Students who have earned an Associate's Degree will have NMHU proficiency, extended core, and minor requirements waived. However, all other University requirements, including the State-mandated 35-credit hour Common Core and the University's 45 upper-division credit requirement, must be met before granting of the Bachelor's degree.

Option 1
Dual Degree-Program Completion
Students who have earned an Associate's Degree from SJC in a given field of study may transfer and then complete the Bachelor's Degree from NMHU in the same field of study.
Option 2:
Dual Degree-Bachelor's Degree Completion
Students who have earned an Associate's Degree from SJC in a given field of study may transfer and then complete a Bachelor's Degree from NMHU in a different field of study.
Option 3:
Concurrent Enrollment

SJC students who have completed a minimum of 32 credit hours may be admitted to NMHU as sophomores and may enroll in junior-level courses. If necessary, the 16-credit-hour, in-resident requirement will be waived for those students.

It is highly recommended that you meet with SJC's Transfer Specialist or an NMHU advisor to discuss your intended course of study and to review your transcripts in order to stay on track with NMHU's transfer requirements.
